Elective Students

Formal clerkship electives can be arranged and are encouraged for the Department of Medical Imaging. In addition to the formal electives, 3rd and 4th year students are given a series of seminars including chest radiology, and trauma which are hospital based at each of the teaching academies.


Visiting Elective Students

Non-University of Toronto medical students are encouraged to consider doing electives in the Department of Medical Imaging. The department welcomes international medical student electives as well.


Informal electives in the Department of Medical Imaging

A variety of elective experiences are available in the Department of Medical Imaging for junior medical students in the first and second years. These are generally aimed at introducing the student to a modern Medical Imaging department, and are also extremely useful from a career selection perspective.

Hieu, mới vừa email cho Đại học Toronto xong, khi có email sẻ trả lời thêm há.

Elective rotation là môn có thể chọn lọc trong lúc còn học sinh viên y khoa (thường cuối năm 3 hoặc năm 4 cho sinh viên ở đây), thời gian thường thì từ 4-12 tuần. Sinh viên vẩn theo trường chính của mình (nghỉa là điểm của mình sẻ gởi về trường chính).

Thường thì giấy tờ làm "elective rotation " phức tạp lắm vì phần lớn liên quan đến việc tíếp xúc với bệnh nhân. Mình đóan thì Radiology elective rotation dể hơn vì không có tiếp xúc với bệnh nhân mà chỉ học coi hình, nên giấy tờ sẻ không khó khăn bằng.

Có gì khi nhận được tin tức (hy vọng 1-2 tuần sẻ post lên nhửng chi tiếc sau).

Em cám ơn anh Cang về thông tin trên, em có ghé qua và lục lọi trong đó một chút, túm lại là em đang ngồi mài đao chuẩn bị cho bất cứ cơ hội chinh chiến sau này giờ còn yếu, bước ra ngoài là em chết liền.

Visiting Students - International Requirements

Students who are applying to take electives in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto should note the following requirements and information. Individuals not adhering to the following procedures will not be permitted to take part in elective activities.

A complete application is required for processing and must include the following:

• Application form (online)
  
• Administrative fees

• Only students registered in the FINAL year of their medical program (NOT INCLUDING POSTGRADUATE TRAINING) at the time when the elective would take place are eligible to apply for an elective at the University of Toronto. Please note that only electives undertaken for academic credit will be processed.
  
• Electives are available for a maximum of eight (8) weeks in one academic year. There are no exceptions to this maximum duration.
  
• Submit your application form to the Faculty of Medicine at least four (4) months prior to the desired starting date. No late application will be accepted.
  
• The earliest date that an application will be processed is nine (9) months prior to the elective starting date.
  
• Placement in a hospital and department is dependent upon availability of space during the requested elective period.
  
• Receipt of application will be acknowledged by e-mail only
  
• Receipt of fees and application does not guarantee confirmation of placement. If a request for placement cannot be accommodated, the University of Toronto will retain $50.00 of the administrative fees and the balance will be refunded.
  
• Elective changes are not permitted. If you choose to change your department or preceptor, your application will be cancelled, and you may resubmit a new application and administrative fee.
  
• Should you decide to cancel the elective period once it is confirmed, you will be required to notify us at least six weeks prior to the commencement of the elective period. There will be no refund.
  
• International electives are only available from the beginning of January to the end of June of each year.
  
• Immigration Medical Examination: Non-Canadian residents are required by Canadian Immigration regulation to undergo a medical examination before entering Canada. The medical examination must be done by a physician on Canada's list of designated medical practitioners. Without this medical examination you will not be permitted entry into Canada. You should arrange to have this examination carried out at least 4 months prior to your elective starting date to ensure that the report will be available in time. Immigration medical examination cannot be obtained after arrival in Canada.

Hoc nganh Y co nen di du hoc hoc ko? Moi truong va co so vat chat ben do co le la tot hon rat nhieu ma...
Hoc o day 6 nam chi la bs da khoa, chua vao chuyen nganh...roi se them thoi gian hoc chuyen khoa, hoac bsi noi tru nua...neu hoc ben kia co le sau undergraduate se duoc chon chuyen nganh va di chinh vao nganh do hon.
Nen chon con duong nao???
Khi thi em nghi don gian la lam bac si thoi, nhung bay gio lai thay boi roi mot chut...

Chị Lynn hiểu là visa student thì thường phải đóng tiền học phí cao hơn so với học sinh là người bản xứ / công dân Canada... vì người bản xứ / công dân Canada thì được hưởng những hỗ trợ từ nguồn tiền thuế của chính phủ thu trên dầu người dân (đánh thuế trên những người dân có công ăn việc làm), còn sinh viên du học thì không có được hưởng phúc lợi gì từ "nguồn tiền thuế" cả ... cho nên không biết sinh viên du học có được hưởng Scholarships & financial aid không??? Dường như là không !!!

Trong website trên cũng có phần tuition and fees luôn đó Hieu ... Em navigate vòng vòng URLs trên website đó thử xem sao . Thiệt tình là mỗi lần muốn tìm thông tin gì về 1 ngành nghề ở 1 trường đại học .. thì giống như đi vào mê hồn trận ... cứ phải mò mò đọc tìm lâu thật lậu mới ra đường đi nước bước !!! Hmmm

Còn nữa, chị Lynn hiểu sơ sơ thì là ... Hiếu muốn học Y khoa luôn ở U of T thì trước hết em phải liên hệ lấy thông tin từ department / faculty ... rồi nộp hồ sơ xin học . Nếu được chấp thuận thì họ sẽ gởi lá thư cho em ... Em dùng lá thư này để xin xuất cảnh VN và nhập cảnh Canada . Rồi thì bla bla ... đóng tiền rồi học ... Chi tiết thì chị Lynn hòan tòan mù tịt !!! Thông thường, việc apply trực tiếp vào trường medical school ở Canada từ VN là rất khó. Có 2 cái khó, thứ nhất là về mặt tài chánh, vì học sinh từ VN phải đóng tiền theo khuôn của international student, học phí ít nhất là $50,000 cho 1 năm học. Thứ 2, không phải các bạn đang học y khoa ở VN mà có thể nộp đơn thẳng vào Med school. Bạn phải hoàn thành 1 undergraduate degree, ví dụ như Biochem, BioMed, học Biology, BioPharm. U of T thì phải thi MCAT, U of Ottawa thì phải interview, bạn nộp đơn vào trường Med dựa vào điểm của 3 năm học undergrad hoặc 4 năm, (3 năm thì có thang điểm để tính điểm riêng, 4 năm có thang điểm riêng). Bằng Y khoa ở VN trường ở bên Canada không công nhận, đó là điều xin lưu ý các bạn.
Tôi nhận thấy một điều, khi theo học bên đây là, bằng bác sĩ y khoa ở VN, nói về độ khó, cũng như về kiến thức, thì thật sự cũng chỉ bằng Y tá Đại Học 4 năm bên đây (Register Nurse). Để được làm bác sĩ, một sinh viên phải tốn ít nhất là 12 năm mới có thể ra trường và phục vụ bệnh năm, chứ 6 năm, thì quả là quá khó cho sinh viên.
